Pleasant Valley Sunday

The Monkees! This particular video was from the 1967 Monkees On Tour TV episode. CBS aired the reruns well into the late '70s. By that time I was old enough to understand the humor of their goofiness, having outgrown Popey and Felix The Cat. Not old enough to understand the political-social commentary, however.
The song was actually written by the renowned Brill Building writing duo, Gerry Goffin and Carole King. This is one of the few songs the Monkees actually played a couple of the instruments in the recording. Aside from Micky Dolan singing the lead vocals, Michael Nesmith played the written guitar part and Peter Tork played the keyboards.

I used to love the Monkees show. Their music was so-so.

Well thank you for posting. You have the honor of being the first for my makeshift blog.

I think that quirky goofy thing of mine came from watching these shows as a kid.

I am honored.

What "thing" are you talking about??

I've been told I have a quirky sense of humor. Which ties nicely into my most recent post today. Above. You made a comment about some goofy post I made on QC. You retorted with a Youtube video clip of Pasquale and Rosina Parmiggiano: On Star. I found more and cried laughing that night. I also found videos some exceptional videos from two Canadian brothers that had me in stitches. I've posted one. Enjoy.

Two really good ones are the Chinese restaurant and the Hiu Hiu Hooker one.
The one you posted today - not so much.

I'm partial to On Star, Las vegas and The Regretful Son. I can't thank you enough for steering me to these videos. My relatives and I are having such a great laugh.

The cartoonist for these videos does his own thing with Nonna Maria. Not as funny as the Parmiggianos, I would agree. But Nonna Maria is from a completely different perspective. From the first gen side of things. A bit closer to home for me. There's still a lot to be said for those stories. Maybe the Canadian can grow it into something more substantial. If you're interested, check out his YouTube channel, "MindOfChester." Sangue di Maiale is another funny one he does.

Naturally I wanted more. So I did a bit of research. There're 4 CDs and 1 DVD for these Canadian comedians dating back to 2003. I'm tempted to buy them up.
